Twitter Marketing 101

In this first episode of Marketing Factor TV, I’ll show you the basics of how to use Twitter.com to market your website or blog. This video is an experiment: If the feedback is positive, I’ll try to publish videos like this one on a regular basis (on a whole bunch of interesting topics), so please take some time after watching it and leave your comments… :)

Note.-
It’s quite obvious in the video that English is not my main language, so you’ll have to excuse my accent. Also, if I sound a bit nervous, it’s because I am (although terrified would be a more accurate description).

  1. Hi Miguel

Great video! I think you did a fantastic job. Both the content as well as the video production quality is outstanding. I think if you keep on producing videos like this, you will get a massive following.

Who does your editing by the way? And which software programs do you use for it? I’m always learning about these things :)

Oh and by the way, your accent is great!

  2. Hey Miguel,

I thought it was a great vid and it was recommended by Gideon Shalwick on Twitter so I came and checked it out!
I’m going to use it on my website as I think it’s a nice simple tool to explain to others what Twitter is all about!

    Cheers for making it!

    Nikki

  3. @ Gideon

Thank you very much for the comments. Audio was done in a small app called “GoldWave”, and then the entire video was done with Adobe After Effects.

thanks for the tips – I am just learning about Twitter and seeing the power of it. Another great tool is Tweetlater.com – it allows you to automaticlly send welcome messages to those that follow you on Twitter and set future Tweets similar to setting future blog posts. Pretty cool tool.

    Chris

Oh Yea based on your tips in this video I will now promote my Twitter page – please follow me at http://www.twitter.com/stirls

  9. Ken English says:

Excellent video. Clear. Concise. To the point.

I’m trying to get over the idea of people following me around. I guess it stems from a ‘don’t talk about yourself’ upbringing. That, and I often think what I do is not interesting to other people. Oh, and the fact that I don’t know how to do a lot of this stuff, probably has some influence.

Please do another video! Whatever topic you choose is fine with me. I’m the guy in the back of the classroom trying to figure it out. Thank you.

That was an excellent video. I especially liked your summary at the end. It helped me to put together all of what you had said earlier. Now I have a step-by-step plan.

  22. Gib says:

I like this video for its production values. Don’t worry about your accent! You sound fine.

I was hoping this would be more about what to do when you have a blog that’s been going on for a while and a Twitter account that’s been going on for a while. Instead, this was more of a “how to get started with Twitter” which is fine, too.

A tip I’d add to this is that @ replies are good in Twitter for relationships, but that they should have their own value out of context. Meaning, if you always write @ replies to others that require someone else follow the whole thread, it’s not as good a tweet.

Similarly, on the techniques side of things, TwitterTools allows you to exclude @ replies from your sidebar and Twitter posts in WordPress, and I think this makes the output to the blog more useful.

  23. I really like this video— it’s very well produced, concise, and offers valuable information. Thanks!

  24. Wes Wyatt says:
